From – artistdirect.com

Independent artist Zach Broocke will release his fourth albumWatchDogLookOut on Dualtone Records.

Having been involved in the music business for thirteen years and splitting his time between Nashville and Los Angeles, Broocke has cultivated an outstanding team to complete his current project.

Contributors to WatchDogLookOut include producer/engineer Chad Brown (Ryan Adams, Faith Hill), percussionists Ken Coomer (Wilco, Steve Earle) and Fred Eltringham (The Wallflowers, Rivers Cuomo), upright bassist Frank Swart (Morphine, Norah Jones), keys guruCurt Perkins (Josh Rouse, J.J. Cale), guitarist Doug Lancio (Patty Griffin, Martina McBride), complete with the mastering being done by Andrew Mendelson (Van Morrison, Rolling Stones). With a half-dozen more ancillary players, the team’s total discographies account for well in excess of 40 million records sold.

Color us impressed.

“This team has provided us with a record that is live, honest and refreshing. At the end of the day, while it may remind one of ‘famous’ records, it stands as a composition that is all its own,” said Chad Brown.

Without outside representation and funding, Broocke has become an expert at putting together top-notch recordings on a shoestring budget along with proven dedication, time, energy and strong relationships. He has released one full-length album and two EPs, has toured nationally in elite coast-to-coast venues and has placed his material in many films including Feast of Love and Henry Poole Was Here.

Broocke’s previous work has been well-received by critics with comparisons to Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello and Chris Isaak.

Track listing for WatchDogLookOut is as follows:

1. Freeway Outta Town
2. Bitter Pill
3. Four Leaf Clover 4. Like A Stone
5. Hallelujah
6. Sinner and a Saint
7. Sweet Ambrosia
8. In This Town
9. Take Me In
10. Ways To Go

by Gianfranco Callieri

Zach Broocke has just completed an album relying on Ken Coomer’s drums (ex-Wilco), Frank Swart’s bass (Morphine, Norah Jones), Doug Lancio’s six strings (Patty Griffin, John Hiatt) and the services of an additional group of musicians / producers / technicians.

Once you put them all together, one realizes that they participated in recording projects that sold, in aggregate, more than forty million copies. Echoing the title of an old and forgotten vinyl by Elvis Presley, and adding to it the irony and the modesty of Broocke (both of which never hurts), I have the most optimistic expectations concerning the commercial future of this new album: 40,000,000 buyers are not obtained by chance.

The interesting thing here is that, apart from the jokes, anyone who knows Broocke does not have to resort to word games and puns to anticipate for him a future full of success.

His previous works consist of an album and two well-crafted EPs, where a classic and splendidly well-rounded (i.e. plastic, statuesque, sharp, vivid, timeless) taste for acoustic architecture is mixed with a post-modern conception of songwriting and the most diverse influences (from Bob Dylan to Bruce Springsteen, from Paul Simon to Cat Stevens).

All of these elements merge to create an original and sparkling fusion of sound. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and having spent his childhood and adolescence consuming equally pop singer-songwriters of the ’70s and more progressive and less dapper country, Broocke decided to devote himself to an artistic career after moving to Boston, Massachusetts.
